Side-track first: I can't believe I've never blogged about Revlon Cherry Crush! It's like the OMG, best deep red one can have if you want to try a red, but don't feel uncomfortable wearing red red. I am quite adverse to wearing bright reds. haha. So weird. Cherry Crush is different. You can see it in my really, really old post here: My Small Nail Polish Collection. Guess how much my collection has grown to now? =P
Back on track, I am just so glad I bought another Revlon. How skeptical I was when I saw a scented perfume. I was like, "so Revlon can't sell their permanent polishes, and they came out with some perfumed polish gimmick?" haha, yes, I am quite wary of advertisements after all these years of using beauty products.
Revlon Scented Perfume in 370 Not So Blueberry
Available: All major pharmacies and supermarkets. I got mine from Watsons, at $8.90 ($4 off).
Volume: 4.7 ml
Star Properties: Scented when dry.
Packaging
It is the standard Revlon cylinder with slanted sides. I do find it really elegant, especially if you buy those from Revlon's permanent line, they've got the Revlon word printed in gold, like my Cherry Crush one.
Brush
Really standard circular black brush. Nothing to like or not like about it. Chanel's polishes comes in similar circular black brushes too.
I definitely would prefer if all polishes in the world use a flat domed brush like Rimmel Lycra Pro and Dior, and OPI with Justin Bieber series.
Quality of Paint
Unfortunately, this shimmer series only becomes opaque after two coats. It's a big minus point for me, because I use base coat. And this means that the second coat of Revlon is actually the third coat. This means that the paints on my nails are really thick, and will dry slowly.
I find that this perfume shimmer series does not dries as speedily as Cherry Crush from the permanent line. (I don't know if this perfume one is going to be permanent.)
And because it does not dries fast, I find it a bit too much to put on top coat. I do like using top coat because it does helps my polish to stay longer without chipping.
So this part is quite a turn off for me. But Revlon redeems itself by having great color.
Color
I absolutely think this is a super gorgeous color to wear. It is a metallic pastel purple which just makes me nails pop! I feel instantly glamourous wearing this. And oh, if you love peep-toe shoes like me, you will be delighted at how this metallic pastel purple looks, peeping out from the shoes.
In addition, I love the name. Haha, Not So Blueberry.
Oh, and one more great thing about Revlon colors is that they are the same as you see in bottle. Awesome!
Scent
The scent for this is a super sweet blueberry smell. It does reminds me of flavored drinks, you know, like you step into 7-Eleven and grab a blueberry drink, you'd get that smell. And 370 Not So Blueberry smells exactly like those edible flavored blueberry stuff.
I don't really like it because I am not an artificial scent person. I don't really like my food to have super sweet smells, but prefer fresh fruit/vegetable smells.
But I don't mind, because you can't smell it unless you keep bringing your finger to your nose. I bought because Revlon says it's scented, and yes, I wanted to see if it's really scented. Now, I know the answer. Revlon didn't lie. It's just that you honestly don't know what kind of scent you will get with each color. Maybe the green one really smells like green apples???
Range
The scented range comes in quite unique colors, I remember they have a lime green, some great nudes, and everything from black/maroon, to blue, to pinks... ... And they made 3 shades for each color family. So you really can have your pick of colors.
Cost
Revlon is one of my go-to brands when I all of a sudden think I need a certain nail color. I would check them out first, and only look for other brands if I don't see what I want. That's because I think they are inexpensive yet have very good quality. I know I can rely on Revlon when it comes to polishes.
And then the other drugstore brand I would check is Rimmel. And then I'd go to SkinFood. I don't go out staring at OPIs. OPI is expensive imo, and I only get them when I stumble upon sale.
I do like this: 3.5/5.
I will wear this, because it is a unique color in my stash. Strangely, I don't have any purple in my collection! LOL. Also, Not So Blueberry is a great shimmer metallic pastel that just screams glam-glam nightout to me! It instantly adds a posh look without effort.
However, I do not like how it needs a second coat, so does not dries as fast as I would like. (The original Revlon line dries fast. It's just this one that doesn't.) And I also do not like the smell though I really can't smell anything if my fingers are more than 10 cm from my nose.
I will not go out and buy another scented Revlon, unless I see a unique color. I much prefer picking from their original line.
Have you tried the Scented Perfume Revlon nail polishes? What do you think of them? If you haven't, will you try a scented nail polish? Why?
