Daniel Radcliffe Talks Up Rickman's Oscar Chances

Daniel Radcliffe has suggested his Harry Potter co-star Alan Rickmanshould be nominated for 'Best Supporting Actor' at this year's award ceremonies. Speaking via video-link at the 'Deathly Hallows' press conference, Radcliffe described Rickman's performance in the finalPotter movie as the finest of his career.
The 65-year-old veteran British actor plays 'Professor Severus Snape' in the hugely successful franchise and fans of Jk Rowling's novels will be aware of the character's pivotal role in the final instalment. Radcliffe heaped praise on his co-star, saying, "The performance I found the most moving was Alan Rickman's. I do think it's the performance of his career.I think he should get nominations for best supporting actor because it's so touching and beautiful what he does. I'm really thrilled to share thescreen with him". An acclaimed film and stage actor, Rickman is perhaps best known for his performances in 'Die Hard', 'Michael Collins' and 'Robin Hood' - he was also nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award in 2004 for his role opposite Mos Def in "Something the Lord Made". Radcliffe himself is gaining high praise for his current stage role in the Broadway play 'How To Be Successful in Business Without Really Trying'.
Daniel Radcliffe hit the headlines this week after admitting to GQ his drinking became out-of-hand during the filming of the final Harry Potter movies. Radcliffe claimed he became "reliant" on booze but has since become teetotal.
